Inspiring…….

I get the privilege every day to see most beautiful sunsets. I am always in awe of what God allows me to see. The sheer bright whiteness of the sun tells me God is in charge. I do a sign of the cross every time I see that beautiful light shining through the clouds. It is absolutely magnificent! I look at it and sometimes, I just catch it before it disappears. I interpret it as God shining down on me and letting me know he is there and hears me. I have been so inspired to paint because of these sunsets. So, today in the midst of my errands, I decided to pull out the paint and brushes. I did get frustrated because I could not get the sunset reflection right. It looked incredibly wrong. It felt wrong. As the day went on, I let it rest and I went along my day. Then after a few hours, I pulled out the paint and just began mixing paint and brushing it on the canvas. God took my brush and I know this because he made my picture so much better than I imagined. You may be thinking I am nuts, but as I look at it, I feel he helped guide me. I know this because as I look at the sun in my picture, I feel the same awe I do when I see the sun glowing in the clouds every night. Some things you just can’t prove. I feel it. Look around you and be inspired.  There is so much in this world to notice. Get off your phone and interact with real people standing before you.  That in itself may awe you! I love you and trust you Jesus!

Ideas implemented.

I was sitting at home really feeling like painting something. I had these ideas floating in my head. My daughter and I headed to the fabric store to find some canvases right away. I already had the paint so I was that much closer to making my vision a reality. The problem with ideas is that most of them we all have are literally gone into the air within 5 seconds of thinking it. Poof! Gone!

I knew that I needed to make a move into the implementation direction. I feel that making myself move, created momentum for other areas of my life too. Sometimes all we need is to make a small, bold move and then we changed the course of our life. A co-worker asked me, “why is it so much easier being unhealthy?” My reply was because we don’t have to force ourselves to switch directions. Being complacent is easy. I don’t want to be that person. What could’ve been, will not take over my head anymore. Create yourself, form yourself, and thrive.

I want to have this……….

I heard some news yesterday about a man I did not have the pleasure of knowing. At work there was a man who was there for almost 30 years. His coworkers were texting him and the managers were calling him when he didn’t show up for work. Something felt off to the manager so what did he do? He left and drove over to his house to check on him and make sure he was alright. He found a half shoveled driveway, the back door open, and Mr. Pudney on the couch motionless. He had passed. He was just at work the day before. As I heard the news and the story of discovery, I couldn’t help but see the legacy he left.  He had touched profoundly everyone he interacted with. He was always in a good mood and lifted others up when they were down. I listened to everyone talk about this man yesterday. I prayed for him and I knew he would be alright in the next life. We should all strive to be like Mr. Pudney. How many managers would go check on an employee that didn’t show up? I am so glad to be part of the organization I am with. We have so many people at our station and 1 was missed so dearly. As I look at my life, I know I haven’t been the best person all  my life. We all are trying to find our way and how we fit into this world. WE all struggle with feelings of despair, hopelessness, emptiness, and loneliness. If we reach out to others and interact with them in a positive way we will leave a huge impact and possibly help fill some of those holes in ourselves and others. You just do not realize the impact we have on everyone we touch. We could give positive feelings to someone as we say hi or open the door. Everyone wants to feel valuable and at the very least acknowledged. Life is full of learning opportunities. I hope through this blog, your eyes will be opened to how you impact this world. We are individuals and we all belong to God. You are loved and precious. How are you going to impact this world today????

RIP Mr. Pudney. You are missed more than you can imagine!

Spring Fever!

Yesterday felt magnificent! I was so in love with the weather! The sun out made me so happy and everyone I saw, I smiled big at! It is amazing what perspective can do. A few days ago it was way below zero. The 24 degrees and sun yesterday felt so incredibly warm. I opened the windows to my truck and enjoyed the breeze. Now, someone who lives in the south may think I am off my rocker, but to the folks up here, it was practically t-shirt weather! In life, we all have different perspectives. We all have different experiences in our lives that shape our perspective. I believe it is important to talk to others, hear their stories, and listen to their perspectives. Hearing the different stories can also influence our perspectives too. We can form our thought process using other people’s experiences and lessons they learned in life. Go out and explore this fabulous world!

Family Traditions…….

The neighbor invited us over to their house to make their great grandmother’s ravioli from scratch. It literally took all day and there were 20 people all helping. This family is a tight knit bunch. I was not only amazed at how well everyone got along, but at how loving they were towards us as well. It felt like we belonged there. The ravioli was an adventure in itself. After we made about 300 of these things, we ate some. The sauce and every detail was made from scratch. This event last night got me to think about my grandma. I loved cooking in the kitchen with her. I enjoyed helping her do everything. I miss my grandma. The sad part is, all the family traditions died with her. Last night was an eye opener for me. I realized if I am going to have family traditions, I need to start them. I will be the one to begin and hand them down to my kids and so forth. Traditions have to start somewhere. So, the neighbors do the ravioli tradition once a year and that is the only one they have. I suggested we do cookies before Christmas, they all liked that. Now we are starting a cookie tradition with their family and I will implement it in mine.

AS I prayed this morning, I didn’t expect this…..

I woke up this morning in Thanksgiving. I had stayed up as my kid was sick last night. In spite of some of the things that happened, we were able to go serve the poor( minus the sick kid). I prayed for God to bless our day and our actions. We went and grabbed the food, which fit perfectly in my car. We brought the food in and began serving up plates. The folks were very grateful, some weren’t, and I reminded my kids that we just don’t know what is going on in their hearts or lives. Serve with a smile and be polite is what I say. We had over 110 people to serve. I thought we were going to run out of food. Guess what, some had seconds and took food to their rooms. We had leftovers still! So, we served up portions in to go containers, then set out to find those on the street who were hungry. This man on a corner looked so hungry. We asked him if he wanted a meal, he took it graciously and said please go before I start crying. You just never know what is going on in someone’s life or how they got where they are. It is not for us to judge them, just feed them. No matter what condition someone is in, we all deserve food. I was thinking that I think there are two conditions that are the worst and those are in my opinion hunger pains and being cold. We managed to put together 25 additional food boxes with the food we thought we were for sure going to run out of. I instantly thought back to the loaves and fishes story. When you ask God to bless your food and actions, he can and will amaze you. Another person we saw on a bus bench hunched over with a blanket covering her whole body and head, two of my kids went up to her and asked her if she would like some food. She took it and didn’t speak but was able to eat it. I plan on holding on to these memories of humanity. There are so many things wrong in this world but there are so many right things too. If we choose to see the bad we will miss the good. Prayer works but you also have to be willing to be God’s hands and feet to move and help those down here. We are all hurting in some way. Let’s spread love and crush darkness.

Matthew 25:31-46New King James Version (NKJV)

The Son of Man Will Judge the Nations

31 “When the Son of Man comes in His glory, and all the holy[a] angels with Him, then He will sit on the throne of His glory. 32 All the nations will be gathered before Him, and He will separate them one from another, as a shepherd divides his sheep from the goats. 33 And He will set the sheep on His right hand, but the goats on the left. 34 Then the King will say to those on His right hand, ‘Come, you blessed of My Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world: 35 for I was hungry and you gave Me food; I was thirsty and you gave Me drink; I was a stranger and you took Me in; 36 I was naked and you clothed Me; I was sick and you visited Me; I was in prison and you came to Me.’

37 “Then the righteous will answer Him, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see You hungry and feed You, or thirsty and give You drink? 38 When did we see You a stranger and take You in, or naked and clothe You? 39 Or when did we see You sick, or in prison, and come to You?’ 40 And the King will answer and say to them, ‘Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these My brethren, you did it to Me.’

41 “Then He will also say to those on the left hand, ‘Depart from Me, you cursed, into the everlasting fire prepared for the devil and his angels: 42 for I was hungry and you gave Me no food; I was thirsty and you gave Me no drink; 43 I was a stranger and you did not take Me in, naked and you did not clothe Me, sick and in prison and you did not visit Me.’

44 “Then they also will answer Him,[b] saying, ‘Lord, when did we see You hungry or thirsty or a stranger or naked or sick or in prison, and did not minister to You?’ 45 Then He will answer them, saying, ‘Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did not do it to one of the least of these, you did not do it to Me.’ 46 And these will go away into everlasting punishment, but the righteous into eternal life.”

I’m glad I did.

I was in my living room last night when a friend of mine called. I was invited to go workout, pass and everything taken care of. I said an immediate “no thank you, I would love to but…..” After the words slipped out of my mouth, I said “wait, I will call you back in 10 minutes and give you an answer if I can find my workout clothes.” She said ok. I am glad I got out of my comfortable house and just showed up. At first I really didn’t want to go because it took effort. My words of wisdom hit me in the face and I followed my own advice. I braved the bitter cold and got my butt to the gym. The first 10 minutes on a machine seemed like it took forever, then I said let’s hit a mile and then we can stop. We hit a mile, went on another machine which went faster. Then we hit the weights. I could barely make it through the first 10 min without wanting to quit and before you know it, we were there for 90 min! It felt great!!! I was so glad we pushed each other. We all need to get uncomfortable and push not only ourselves, but others. It is amazing what happens with a little bit of encouragement. Simple steps of just showing up can be life changing! Most people don’t show up and then they never experience change.
